Friends
My mom takes me to a hill in our neighbourhood most evenings for doggie playgroup. I've made a whole bunch of friends there... and so has my mom.
Here we are with our 'pack'. (I'm in the middle).

Cottage life
My friend Bower looks kind of scarey but he's really a big pussy cat. We tried to get him in the water at Auntie Anne's cottage but he doesn't know he can swim yet.
In this picture he's wearing a life vest around his middle but he didn't manage to float for more than a few minutes before he panicked. Oh well, maybe next time...
In the meantime, I had been for my swim and watched the swimming lesson from the grass where I was drying off in the sun.
Here we are having a well deserved rest after a full day of activity.

A note to my mom (while she's on vacation without me!)
Hey Mommy ...
Did you know that when Rudy and I go walking, and he goes for a pee, I have to hurry over to the spot and pee on top of his pee! Auntie Jen says I'm showing Rudy who's boss!
How's your trip going ... guess you'll have lots to tell me!
When Auntie Jen went golfing today, Rudy and I kept Uncle George company! He thinks that he took care of Rudy and me, but we just humoured him and went out in the backyard with him just to keep him company, not cause we wanted out.
We had 3 walks today, but the rain surprised us on one walk and we had to head home pretty quick! I think I'm staying up later than usual and it's fun! We just got in from our last walk a few minutes ago.
I will proabaly head to bed pretty soon, but first I have to coax Rudy upstairs. He just doesn't like going up the stairs, but once he's up there, he's really happy!
Tomorrow we're going out for dinner. An old boyfriend, (another of my many men) Riley has invited us over for a BBQ, so I'm pretty excited. Wonder how it'll be with Rudy and Riley looking for my attentions! Oh well, what can a girl do ....?
Have fun Mommy ... and a big Hello to Auntie Dianne?
Love you and miss you ... Your little Katey, Your Wonder Dog!

Jordi
My friend Jordi gave me a lovely blanket and some funky Chihuahua socks for my mom. I sent him a thank you card that my mom made. He replied with and email and some pictures. Here's what he had to say:
Dear Katey,
Thank you so much for the lovely card. You look so pretty wrapped in the blanket.

Wow, your mom made this card! She is so creative and smart. You must be so proud of her. My moms are a bit slow when it comes to computers. They had to get one of their co-workers to download the photos from their camera.
Tell your mom that the socks look good on her. I personally hate wearing anything on my feet, they make me walk funny.

Love,

That Jordi is one smart dog. I didn't even know he could read! I doubt that the cat in background can read though; everyone knows that cats just look at the pictures.

A dog-gone good cottage day
I am one happy dog!
We went to Auntie Anne's cottage today and I got to swim, meet a bull-frog, run in the field, sleep in the "om tent", eat grass, chase squirrells, catch flies in the sun porch and enjoy all those wonderful country smells.

The lake was so refreshing, I had to go in for several dips throughout the day.
Not sure what's in the water but I like to drink it even better than the tap water in my bowl.

Canoe trip down the Rideau
I had the best adventure ever this week! Some of my 'aunties' went on a canoe trip and they took me with them for a day. I wore my life vest in the boat and we had a great time.
I should have worn my life vest on the dock too because I jumped in the water under the bridge by the locks and couldn't get back up again. So Anka had to rescue me by fishing me out by the scruff of my neck.
Those 'aunties' sure do take good care of me!

Nanny's back
Nanny is visiting and she takes me on lots of walks. The only thing that she doesn't like is picking up my poop. My mom tells me to save it for when Nanny walks me, so I do my best. She always gags and makes the worse faces.

Having a dog-gone good spring
Even though my human has been negligent (as usual!) with posting about my adventures, I've been having a pretty good spring. My feet are all muddy in this picture from running along the river.
I even got to go to a dress-up party. I got lots of treats and attention so I didn't mind wearing the silly bow.
I've had several sleep-overs while my human was off galavanting. I stayed a few nights with Jennifer, Anka and Fred, and Dianne and Brian. I got along just great and was very spoiled ... as it should be! Everyone says I'm no trouble and Dianne and Brian didn't even get mad at me when I jumped in their fish pond. I still growl at Bower sometimes but we are getting along much better now. I know he just wants to play, but I like being the boss and putting him in his place.

Anyone for a swim?
I went for my 2nd swim of the season today.
I must say, it was a bit warmer than last time, but the water's still chilly. I was running along the path near the river and couldn't resist going for a dip. Good thing my human is now thinking ahead and keeps a towel in the car.
Although, if she was that smart, she would have brought a camera and taken a picture of me in the water.

A girl needs pampering from time to time
My human and I went to a massage class at my favorite store, Wags, the other night. No, I didn't have to massage my human; it was the other way around. It was very relaxing, despite being surrounded by about 16 other dogs, some of whom were well over 100 lbs.
There was a brown lab that I thought was a little too frisky for my liking, so I growled at him. But I got along just fine with most of the pack, including a boxer that reminded me of my old 'friend' Bower.

From a Cat's Daily Diary:
Day 483 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh food while I am forced to eat dry cereal.
The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape and the mild scolding I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant.
Today my attempt to kill my captors by curling around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded; must try this at the top of the stairs.
In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair; must try this on their bed.
Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was.
Hmmmm, not working according to plan.
There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary confinement throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell of food. More importantly, I overheard that my confinement was due to my power of "allergies". I must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.
I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit.
The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant. He speaks with them regularly, and I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured.
But I can wait; it is only a matter of time.

Overnight at Nak North
I spent the last 2 days at a cabin with a group of women who took me walking in the woods wearing things called snow shoes (them, not me). Humans are so weird!
Is it time for a nap yet?

Puppy love (even though we're seniors)
My boyfriend Jak left last night and I plan to spend the entire morning in bed feeling sorry for myself.
Here we are together in happier times, sunning ourselves on the back deck yesterday.

Zak is back
My boyfriend Zak has been visiting this past week. We get along great but, I don't care how cute he is, if he doesn't finish his breakfast, I'm in there like ugly on an ape! If he's leaves a crumb, I will find it.

Snow
I am loving the new snow this week! I like to roll in it and plow it with my face. (My human doesn't understand why I like to do this but, trust me, it's really fun!). We go over to the hill near our house every day so I can run.
But my favorite place is along the river at the end of Ogilvie Rd. I run ahead, but put the brakes on often to turn around to make sure my human is in sight. She's slow sometimes but I don't mind waiting for her because I know I'll get a treat when we get home.

Coach potato
My human LOVES to get a bargain and, as a result, I now have my own sofa. She found this doggy bed at Kelly's Clearance centre and couldn't resist bringing it home for me.
It's very comfy but I think I'll still lay on the big sofa sometimes, just because I can.

Naughty dog
I had a great time running on a trail along the river today. The snow was fluffy and I loved rolling in it.
There's a pet store in Halifax called "The Naughty Dog". I think it was named after me.
There's nothing like a nice nap after all that fresh air. My mom puts a dog blanket on the bed for me to lay on but I prefer her nice pillows. Wouldn't you?

Just Peachy
We went to Jilly's house last night and there were 3 other dogs there (& 6 cats!). Once we got acquainted, we all got along just great.
My new friend Peach really liked my bed. She doesn't quite fit but it didn't keep her from trying.
I was fine with that and hung out on Peach's pillow where I had plenty of space to sprawl out.

I do dog tricks
This dog thinks she's so hot. Just because she can sit, roll over, down, stand, sing, dance, shake, fetch, play dead, etc. on command. What a show off!
I sit, stay and come for treats. What more do you want, I ask???

Veggie D'lites
My mom made up a batch of these yummy treats for me before Christmas. I really appreciated that they are low fat because I'm trying to keep my girly figure.
· 1 1/2 cup water
· 3 tablespoons corn oil
· 2 cups whole wheat flour
· 1 1/2 cups white flour
· 1/2 cup cornmeal
· 1/2 cup celery, diced fine
· 1/8 cup red bell peppers, diced fine
· 1/2 cup shredded carrots
· 1 clove minced garlic
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix water and oil. Add flour, cornmeal, vegetables and garlic. Knead dough for 2 to 3 minutes and roll into 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into 3- to 4-inch pieces. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

Waiting at the door
If you look closely at the picture above, you will see me sitting in the door waiting for my Mom & Nanny to come home (you can see them coming up the walk in the window reflection). Every time my mom goes out I wait there for her to come back and I am so happy to see her that it's like a happy reunion even if she's just been gone to the store for 20 minutes.
I don't know who misses who more!
